Building a Stronger, More Effective El Portal!

Building a Stronger, More Effective El Portal!

Stop Watching. Start Fixing.

Showing up isn't enough. El Portal needs a strategy, a plan, and action.
I will bring a proactive and performance-driven approach to El Portal Government:

01 Spark a vision

Put residents back in control to co-create what El Portal should be in 2030, and beyond.

02 Set priorities

Focus resources on what residents actually need not what’s most convenient or easiest to announce.

03 Set standards

Increase capabilities to meet/exceed performance expectations for every department and function.

04 Hold accountable

Bring everything up to current times. Measure results and publish them. No exceptions.

WHY THOMAS FOR VILLAGE COUNCIL

A Neighbor’s Mindset.
A Builder’s Resolve.

A Neighbor’s Mindset.
A Builder’s Resolve.

A Neighbor’s Mindset.
A Builder’s Resolve.

I grew up in Phoenix and Atlanta, then spent my career in coastal cities helping build the strategies, experiences, and images behind well-known brands.

Five years ago, as first-time buyers, my husband and I chose an Old Florida-style 1936 house in Sherwood Forest. We fell for the charm, nature, and location.

As owner-builders, we did a full renovation ourselves, hiring and managing contractors, dealing with permits, and going back and forth with Village Hall more times than I can count. That process showed me firsthand how slow, tangled, and unaccountable things can get around here. Talk to any resident, or do a quick Google search, and you'll hear the same complaints over and over.

I've kept showing up since then, at Council meetings, at workshops, in the day-to-day of this Village. I've seen where our local government drops the ball, where it wastes opportunities, and where it just plain neglects the people it's supposed to serve.

El Portal doesn't need another voice.
We need a builder who gets things done, and who cares about doing it right.

Allured by its charming nature, wildlife, and location, my husband and I purchased a 1936 Old Florida home in Sherwood Forest. As owner-builders we carried out a full renovation from hiring and managing contractors, permitting, and navigating the Village. That process has exposed systemic bottlenecks within El Portal. Talking to residents, we know there are many frustrations and dysfunctions all around that need care.

Over the last five years of consistently attending Council meetings and workshops, I have seen exactly where our local government misses opportunities, creates inefficiency, and neglects our Village. El Portal doesn’t need another voice. We need a builder who gets things done and cares about it being done right.

“Each of our five cats was a stray nobody else planned or stopped for. I think a lot of our Village’s problems are like that too, easy to walk past if you’re not paying attention.”
